Bärbel Kofler, German Ombudsman called Russia to provide a medical aid to Oleg Sentsov and expressed hope for the release of Sentsov and Oleksandr Kolchenko. Andriy Melnyk, Ambassador of Ukraine in Germany claimed this on Twitter.
'Bärbel Kofler, German Ombudsman has called Russia to provide an urgent medical aid to Oleg Sentsov, and to immediately release him and Oleksandr Kolchenko,' Melnik claimed.
The statement said that the decision of the European Court for Human Rights on the need of provision of the medical aid to Sentsov demonstrates their concern over his health condition.
Kolnichenko and Sentsov were detained by the intelligence services of Russia in May of 2014. They were accused of the organization of terrorist acts on the peninsula. Kolchenko was sentenced to ten years of the colony, Sentsov to 20 years in the summer of 2015. Both of them plead not guilty.
Kolchenko declared a hunger strike at the end of the May demanding the release of Oleg Sentsov. After sometime he had to suspend the protest due to the weakness. In his turn, Sentsov started the hunger strike on May 14, demanding the release of all 64 Ukrainian political prisoners detained in Russia.
