Georgia’s Strength is in Unity–United Opposition has named Mikheil Saakashvili a candidate for the post of the prime minister. This was announced by the leader of the United National Movement (UNM) Grigol Vashadze, Gruzia Online reports.
It is reported that Saakashvili is going to make a statement in connection with his plans to return to Georgia.
"Saakashvili must return to Georgia, he must meet with his people face to face. That is why the United National Movement and all parties within the United Opposition have decided to nominate him for the post of Georgia's prime minister," Vashadze stated.
As we reported earlier, on August 27, Saakashvili announced his decision to return to Georgia.
He said that he wanted to serve the country and knew how to avoid mistakes.
“Meanwhile, I am eternally grateful to Georgian people who made me a partaker of the successful historical process of building of the Georgian state. During these seven years, there was not a day, when I was not interested in the Georgian news and I know for sure that my work at the post of the president was not in vain and many things that we created are still kept and they work; however, at the same time when I hear Georgian news, I believe, I know that we can live much stronger, better and every Georgian might be reached and it will unite us,” Saakashvili said.
