Georgian politicians ask Ukraine to take their opinion into account when considering the appointment of Mikheil Saakashvili as Vice Prime Minister. Valeri Gelashvili, the MP who represents Georgian Dream faction, said so in his interview with 112 Ukraine TV channel.
"I know Saakashili very close because I was in the parliament in 2003, but not in the ruling party, but the opposition. When Saakashvili decided to take my property from me, as he did with the other people in Georgia, I criticized him in the open, which is why they beat me up in downtown Tbilisi. The party of President Zelensky is called Servant of the People, and my request is to consider the opinion of the Georgian people. He's a criminal in Georgia, and he cannot be elected for such position", the politician said.
He also described the ex-president of Georgia as "an inadequate person". "I have a family of Lithuanians, and I know that he was examined in Lithuania. The [medical] conclusion states that Saakashvili suffers from the maniac schizophrenia. He's an inadequate person", the lawmaker said.
Gelashvili added that currently, Georgian prosecution already has a lot of cases opened against Saakashvili. According to him, the former leader should be in prison in Georgia because he "did a lot of stuff in our country".
The Ukrainian Parliament is going to consider Saakashvili's appointment as Vice Prime Minister for reforms on April 30.
