The commander of the Libyan army Khalifa Haftar announced a general mobilization to confront external foreign troops. It is reported by Al Arabiya.
Haftar urged the Libyans to unite, take up arms and start fighting “against the colonialist” in response to Ankara’s intention to send troops to the Libyan capital Tripoli.

It was previously reported that the Turkish parliament voted in favor of a bill to send troops to Libya, which was introduced by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in December 2019.

On the evening of December 26, the Libyan National Government, led by Prime Minister Fayez Sarraj, officially requested military assistance from Turkey to counter the advance of the Libyan National Army, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.

Earlier the United Nations Security Council called on the parties of the conflict in Libya to immediately de-escalate the situation and return to a political settlement under the UN auspices. This is stated by the UN Security Council.

The Council members condemned the attack on a migrant accommodation center near Tripoli on July 2. In particular, the department called on the parties of the conflict to immediately return to a political settlement under the auspices of the UN.

"The Security Council stressed the importance of the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Libya and urged all Member States not to intervene in the conflict and not to take measures that aggravate it," the statement says.
