Gdansk Mayor Paweł Adamowicz, who was previously attacked at a charity concert died in a hospital on January 14, as Polish media reported. Doctors were trying to save him for a couple of hours.

Despite surgery, Adamowicz’ condition was extremely critical.

“Injuries were rather serious, heart injury, wounded diaphragm, intra-abdominal injuries,” the doctor explained.

According to the Polish media, hundreds of Gdansk residents came to donate blood for the injured Mayor.

As it was reported, an unknown person went on a stage where Gdansk Mayor was standing during a charity concert, stabbed him and started running. The attacker was screaming that he was imprisoned for a crime he never committed. Security detained the criminal and took him to the police station. It was a 27-year-old local resident. Doctors started reanimating the Mayor on the stage, then took him to the hospital and managed to restore heart beating.

Paweł Adamowicz was 53 years old.
