The Gazprom company threatened to cut off gas supplies to Moldova. The Russian monopolist demanded that the Moldovan side pay off the debts. This was stated by the representative of Gazprom Sergei Kupriyanov, TASS.reports

"If payment for gas supplies is not fully paid and, accordingly, a new contract is not signed from December 1 of this year, then Gazprom will stop gas supplies to Moldova," Kupriyanov said.

According to him, Moldova's debt is $ 709 million.

On October 22, the Moldovan delegation in Moscow was unable to agree on the terms of the extension of the gas supply contract with the Russian state concern Gazprom. Soon, the Moldovan government declared a state of emergency in the energy sector in connection with the gas shortage that arose after the expiration of the gas contract with Gazprom.

In this regard, the Moldovan side requested assistance from Ukraine for gas supplies. At a meeting of the Defense Council, President Volodymyr Zelensky and members of the NSDC approved the request of Chisinau. Now it must be considered by the Cabinet of Ministers.
