In spite of the current situation, gas prices in Ukraine will not be going up this heating season. Oleksiy Chernyshov, the Minister for development of communities and territories said so on the air of Ukraine 24 TV channel.
"As for the gas prices, we can see what's going on in the world now, but I'd like to assure you that the tariffs for population should not go up this heating season, and they should stay on the previous season's level", he said.
Chernyshov also admitted that preparations to the heating season are going according to plan; facilities in the regions all over Ukraine are more than 90 percent ready.
On September 28, it became known that the gas price in Europe exceeded the mark of 1,000 US dollars per 1,000 cubic meters - for the first time in history.
On September 14, Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmygal claimed that the gas price for Ukranian consumers will not change; it will remain the same as it was in the annual tariff of gas supply companies until May 1, 2022.
