G7 Summit in Quebec: leaders against Russia's return

The heads of France, Great Britain and Italy decided that the European position denies Russia’s returning, yet it allows create a dialogue with it

The leaders of the Group of Seven unanimously opposed against Russia’s returning to the group, as the advisors of Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, informed AFP.

Macron, Angela Merkel, the Chancellor of Germany, PMs of Great Britain and Italy, Theresa May and Giuseppe Conte, conducted a meeting where they have agreed on the general position regarding Russia’s participation in G7. They decided that the European position denies Russia’s returning, yet it allows create a dialogue with it.

Earlier, Trump supported Russia’s returning to G8. Giuseppe Conte, Italy’s PM had the same position.

France and Canada spoke against it.

Russia was expelled from G8 after Crimea’s annexation, the G8 became G7.
