The ambassadors of G7 countries stressed the importance of reforming Ukraine's security sector in line with international standards and welcomed Volodymyr Zelensky’s call for respect of international obligations in public procurement legislation. They announced this at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna, according to the G7 Twitter account.

“G7 Ambassadors met with Olha Stefanisyna for a broad, positive discussion on Ukraine’s 2021 reform plans. Among them, G7 emphasised the importance of security sector reform in line with international standards and welcomed President Zelensky’s call for respect of international obligations in public procurement legislation,” the statement reads.

Earlier, the foreign ministers of the Group of Seven nations have condemned the arrest of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

“We, the G7 Foreign Ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America and the High Representative of the European Union are united in condemning the politically motivated arrest and detention of Alexey Navalny,” a statement informs.
