The future German government should deny the Nord Stream 2 launch to save Ukraine from the Russian military invasion. Ukraine's Ambassador in Berlin Andriy Melnyk said so in his commentary for Welt newspaper.

The diplomat called on the future coalition of German political forces, including the Greens to "bury Nord Stream 2 on the bed of the Baltic Sea". 

The official's statement followed soon after the White House's decision to introduce new sanctions against the pipeline and its operator company. On Monday, US Secretary of the State Antony Blinken claimed that the Department of the State sent Congress a list of two vessels and one company, which were involved in the project.

On September 10, Gazprom declared that North Stream 2 was fully completed. Work on laying the Nord Stream 2 pipeline began in 2018. Its length is 1,230 km. The pipeline is expected to supply 55 billion cubic meters of gas annually from Russia via the Baltic Sea to Germany.

Today, On November 16, it became known that Germany has suspended Nord Stream 2 certification. The report states that in order to renew the certification, the Nord Stream 2 operator must have an organizational form in accordance with the laws of Germany.
