The incident took place on the night of December 4. The deceased is 27-years-old Yevhen Holubev. He had Ukrainian citizenship and lived in the Sumy region. He had troubles with the law, particularly, the local law enforcers reported that the man was the person of interest in a few criminal cases and he was accused of hooliganism and robbery.
The Ukrainian often visited his friends in Belgorod oblast that borders Ukraine. He organized parties on lakes for fishing fans.
The Ukrainian law enforcers drew attention to the fact that the representatives of Russia’s FSB killed a civilian and did not provide any evidence of his aggressive actions during the detention.
It is supposed that the deceased could not have a weapon, and Ukrainian citizen (Russian by ethnicity) became a random victim of the border guards.
Meanwhile, the Russian side presented the incident as ‘a heroic’ operation at the border. It looks like an attempt to conceal the responsibility of FSB officials for the murder of the civilian.
On December 4, the Russian FSB reported that the shooting took place at the border with Ukraine. According to the FSB, three unknown with weapons tried to break into Russia from the Ukrainian territory.
The FSB stated that two persons fled to the territory of Ukraine, while one person was shot.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine after the meeting with the representative of the border guard unit of the FSB reported that the Russian side did not provide evidence of the violation of its border by the Ukrainian side.
