Former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul said that he was denied entry to Russia. He wrote about this on his page on Twitter.
"I am on the Kremlin's sanction lists and cannot travel to Russia", reads the message.

McFaul said that the Kremlin included him in the sanctions list for his close affiliation to surrounding of President Barack Obama.
Was told that I am the Kremlin's sanctions list because of my close affiliation with Obama. The U.S. sanctioned Russians close to Putin.

He also noted that the last entry was forbidden to US Ambassador to the Soviet Union, George Kennan, who held this position in 1952.

Note that Michael McFaul accused the Russian leader Vladimir Putin of intervening in the presidential elections in the United States on November 9.
