In the view of the escalation of military conflict in Afghanistan, Ukraine's Ministry for Foreign Affairs calls on citizens to leave the territory of the Islamic Republic as soon as possible. This is mentioned in the statement on the Ministry's website.
"Ukraine's Foreign Ministry persistently recommends citizens of Ukraine to refrain from all kinds of travels to Afghanistan until the security situation is stabilized, and those who are still in this country should leave its territory immediately", reads the message.
The authority also claimed that all citizens of Ukraine who face immediate danger to their lives or health or any other sort of situation that demands consulate reaction should urgently turn to Ukraine's Embassy in Tajikistan, which is the closest Ukrainian diplomatic office to Afghanistan.
The authority released this statement as Taliban fighters took Kandagar and Gerat under control.
By now, the Talibs have secured the Afghan border with Uzbekistan and Tajikistan; they control some 65 percent of the country's territory. Recently, an entire army corps surrendered to the advancing troops of the Islamist movement.
