Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry summoned German ambassador Ernst Reichel because of his most recent statements about the conflict in eastern Ukraine. Olena Vashchenko, the head of the ministry’s press service, reported that on Tuesday afternoon.
The official never specified what would be the actual topic of the upcoming discussion with the German diplomat. ‘It’s about a number of inappropriate statements,’ she added.
The ministry says it is not the first time that Reichel has been making such statements, which strongly differs from the official position of the German government.
Earlier, Reichel said it was possible to hold the local election in Donbas even before the Russian regular troops withdraw from the occupied territories of eastern Ukraine.
