Pavlo Klimkin, Ukraine's Foreign Minister replied to President Volodymyr Zelensky's charges; the leader claimed that the Ministry did not adjust the response to Russia's diplomatic note about the return of Ukrainian sailors. Ukrainska Pravda outlet reported this June 27.

The Minister admitted that his office had the authority to send the answer without consulting the President.

"Of course, we, as the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine, had every authority to shape the note as we had. This note was within our communication and our case in the international tribunal", Klimkin said. He insisted this was totally within the competence of the Ministry.

According to him, the Ukrainian note demands that Russia live up to the decision of the international tribunal to release the Ukrainian sailors. He said that the document contained no political issues.

"I do not comment on emotions. I see that I have tactical and strategic differences in terms of counteracting Russian aggression... So, in these conditions, I don't think I can help anymore", Klimkin said when answering why would he choose not to inform Zelensky - perhaps due to dissidence between them.
