Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has been checking if movie director Oleg Sentsov was actually moved from penal colony in Yakutsk to high-security facility in Irkutsk, Russia. The ministry’s spokeswoman Maryana Betsa tweeted that on Friday.

‘The Ministry checks the information about the transfer of Oleg Sentsov. We once again demand to release the Ukrainian political prisoner’, reads the message.

Earlier today, Russian human rights activist Zoya Svetova reported that Sentsov was transferred to Irkutsk.

Ukrainian Oleg Sentsov, born in Crimea, was sentenced to 20 years in a Russian prison, following his trial in a military court in Rostov-on-Don. The sentence on suspicion of plotting terrorist acts in Crimea was pronounced in summer 2015. Sentencing Sentsov provoked a stormy reaction within the international community, which strongly condemned the groundless allegation and Russia's behaviour.
