Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba discussed the possibility of evacuating Ukrainians from the Gaza Strip through Egypt during a dialogue with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine with reference to the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
"The Egyptian authorities are aware of the urgency of Ukraine's request for evacuation and are making every effort to facilitate the successful evacuation of Ukrainians from the Gaza Strip," Shoukry assured the head of Ukrainian diplomacy.
Kuleba praised the peacekeeping efforts of Egypt and personally President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in facilitating the truce between the Gaza Strip and Israel.
The interlocutors agreed to exchange visits.
As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the government, the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and special services to organize the return of Ukrainian citizens to their homeland from the Gaza Strip, where the armed confrontation continues to escalate.
Dmytro Kuleba stated that the evacuation of Ukrainians from the Gaza Strip was delayed due to a breach of promises to create a "security corridor."
