On August 21, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba held a telephone conversation with US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
During the conversation, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and the US Deputy Secretary of State discussed the preparations for the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Washington.
"The interlocutors separately discussed preparations for the visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to the United States and expressed mutual conviction that the visit will be successful and effective," the statement said.
According to the program of the visit, Zelensky will fly to the United States on August 28, and the first city where the Ukrainian president is going to arrive is Chicago. There, on August 28-29, Zelensky, together with the Ukrainian diaspora, will celebrate the Independence Day of Ukraine and, possibly, will meet with American business.
The parties also agreed on cooperation for the evacuation of Ukrainian citizens from Afghanistan on a priority basis.
Meanwhile, 12 Ukrainian military servicemen have been stuck at the military base in Kabul. They are still waiting for evacuation.
