Flu, ARVI morbidity rate in Ukraine exceeds epidemic threshold by 55 percent

Current influenza and ARVI morbidity rate in Ukraine has exceeded the epidemic threshold by 55.6 percent; the intensity is moderate. The Centre for Public Health of Ukraine's Healthcare Ministry reported that on Facebook.

Over the period from February 5 to February 11, 260,871 people felt sick; 68 percent of those are children under the age of 17. Since the beginning of the epidemic season, 95,364 people were hospitalized; 76.8 percent of those are children.

26 lab-confirmed lethal cases were observed since October 2019. 236,343 people got inoculated against the flu.

During the previous epidemic season, over 5.4 million Ukrainians were sick with the flu. 64 lab-confirmed lethal cases were documented; 12 of the victims were the children. 

Previously, WHO reported that the international community has launched a 675-million-dollars preparedness and response plan covering the months of February through to April 2020 in order to fight further spread of the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak in China and globally.
