There are millions of unregistered guns in Ukraine; currently, the number makes about five million, while the number of registered weapons is twice smaller than that, 2-2.5 million units. Georgiy Uchaykin, the Head of the Ukrainian Gun Owners Association said this during Pulse talks show at 112 Ukraine TV channel.

According to him, the Association's data considerably differs from that provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

'We believe that Ukrainian have been holding up to 2.5 million units of registered weaponry, monitored by the Ministry of Internal Affairs at least once. That includes shotguns and carbines, traumatic firearms (at least 300,000 units), the award weapons, which the Ministry conceals - at least 50,000 units. That's an approximate figure. We can be wrong about two or two and a half million units, but the difference is not about 100,000, it's about millions', Uchaykin said.

Ukraine's Chief Military Prosecutor Anatoliy Matios added that over the past 4.5 years, Ukrainian law enforcers seized over 8.6 million units of firearms. That includes RPGs, hand grenades, ammunition and 15 tons of explosives.
