Ukraine’s first deputy parliamentary speaker revealed some new details of the visit of President Petro Poroshenko in the U.S.
According to Iryna Gerashchenko, Poroshenko’s meeting with his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump lasted about 30 minutes. 'It was a full-fledged conversation', she said.
The Ukrainian leader and the U.S. officials discussed the guarantees of Ukraine’s security, foreseen by the Budapest memorandum. At a meeting with Paul Ryan, the speaker of the U.S. Congress, Poroshenko reiterated that Ukraine gave its nuclear arsenal, which at the time was the fourth largest in the world. Now, the president says, Ukraine expects guarantees of its safety and territorial integrity to be preserved and fulfilled.
