This year, Finland plans to bring about 9,000 Ukrainian workers to collect the harvest. This was announced by Finnish Migration Service representative Tuuli Huchtilainen in a commentary to RIA Novosti.

"In total, Finland issued 8,700 permits for seasonal work in 2020, mainly to citizens of Ukraine," the Finnish migration agency said.

In 2020, mostly Ukrainian workers will be employed in planting and harvesting in Finland.

For a trip to Finland for agricultural work, residents of Russia and Ukraine can get a special visa at the diplomatic missions of this country. Such a document gives the right to stay in Finland for no more than 90 days in six months. If a foreigner plans to work more than this time, then he is issued a work permit in the migration department.

On April 23, the first charter flight with 200 seasonal workers hired for agricultural work during quarantine flew from Ukraine to Finland.

Ukrainian migrants are the largest group of labor migrants in Finland. It is reported by the Yle media outlet.

Citizens of Ukraine bypassed Estonians in the number of labor migrants in Finland.

Last year, over 1,800 Ukrainians came to work in Finland, comparing to about 1 200 Estonians.

It is noted that in the third quarter of 2019, the average salary in Estonia was more than 1,300 euros per month, which is more than 3 times higher than the average salary in Ukraine.
