Finland is enhancing control on its border with Russia, according to local media Yle.

The decision was made due to an increase in tourist activity, and the international situation. Another reason for a change is that the number of border guards has decreased by two over the past few years, as they were being replaced by surveillance cameras, and retired border guards were deployed in exceptional situations.

However, now new border guards are beginning to serve at the Russian border, many of them are fresh out of the school for border guards.

Previously Norway decided to send an armoured unit to the Russian border in the Arctic north
