This was stated by Renat Kuzmin, People's Deputy of Ukraine from the Opposition Platform - For Life party, during a briefing in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which was broadcasted by 112 Ukraine TV Channel.

"The exasperation of the situation in the Donbas does not promise us any good. Therefore, we must admit that people who have been resolving the issue of peace and war in the Donbas for six years work extremely unsatisfactory. The war continues, tens of thousands are dead and wounded, and the new government already imposes old faces and old approaches," Kuzmin said.

He also added that, given the form of government in Ukraine, and the fact that the parliament of the current hierarchy of power occupies a higher position than the President and the Cabinet, the Opposition Platform - For Life party believes that it is the Speaker of Parliament who should deal with issues of war and peace in the Donbas.

"If Presidents of Ukraine and Russia are communicating, then both Speakers and Deputies of both Parliaments should restore inter-parliamentary ties and establish cooperation on conflict resolution. Deputies of the European Parliament, Normandy format Parliaments, possibly US Parliamentarians, should be involved in this issue. We believe that it is Parliament that should take the lead on this issue, because, in fact, today the fate of Ukraine in Minsk is decided by people whose names we do not know, except for the former President, Mr. Kuchma," Kuzmin explained.

He also noted that the mono-majority and the speaker of parliament should take responsibility, not shift it onto the shoulders of random and irresponsible people.

"We believe that commissions should be set up with the involvement of deputies of all factions, joint inter-parliamentary commissions should be set up in order to control the activities of the Minsk Contact Group. We also understand that the monopoly bills on the protection of beekeeping and privatization of the Odesa Film Studio are very important, but we believe that they have to deal with the Donbas, because it may be late soon," said Renat Kuzmin.
