Famous boxer Kudin sentenced to two and a half years in Belarus

The prosecutor's office of Belarus has asked for boxer Aleksei Kudin 3.5 years in a high-security penal colony

World champion in Thai boxing and kickboxing Alexey Kudin was sentenced to two and a half years of imprisonment in Belarus. This was reported by the Viasna Human Rights Centre.

"Alexey Kudin was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison," the statement said.

Kudin received a year less than the prosecutor's office demanded.

Earlier, it was reported that Kudin was notified of suspicion. According to a regional outlet, he is accused of punching two law enforcers in downtown Minsk on August 10, 2020; it was a rally of opposition activists. Kudin himself did not deny the fact but said that he did it to protect himself. Besides, he said he did not participate in protest actions that day, and merely observed what was going on.
