Facebook suspended all political advertising in Ukraine 11 days before the presidential elections, as Ukrainian News reported.

Prohibition of the distribution of the advertisement concerns socio-political publishers and advertising agencies which deal with an advertisement of their materials in the social media. Those who are in Ukraine can post an advertisement to prevent interference in the election process.

Yet, one has to send an ID to post an advertisement. However, the Ukrainian passport would be not enough, one needs to send a foreign passport or international driving license for that. The verification procedure will take 48 – 72 hours. The advertisement is paid by a card with its owner’s name.

As it was reported, Facebook would reveal the names of the contractors of the political advertisement on the eve of the presidential elections. This information will be preserved in a public library within seven years. Therefore, one can find out who pays for the political advertisement, the amount of the expenses, the ways the advertisement was distributed, the demography and location of those who saw the agitation.
