Nathaniel Gleicher, Head of Cybersecurity Policy of Facebook called about ten biggest companies to gather at the Twitter HQ in San Francisco.
The primary objective of the meeting is the preparation to the midterm U.S. elections, which to take place this year in November. The relevant letter of Gleicher is at the disposal of BuzzFeed outlet.
Google, Microsoft, Snapchat and other companies are among the invited companies.
'As I’ve mentioned to several of you over the last few weeks, we have been looking to schedule a follow-on discussion to our industry conversation about information operations, election protection, and the work we are all doing to tackle these challenges.' Gleicher wrote.
The attention of the U.S. authorities to the companies has increased, as Facebook and Twitter reacted too slow on the messages on the involvement of foreign special services in their platforms to influence the users before the elections in 2016.
