Facebook has blocked the pages of 12 main supporters of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro due to the spread of fakes following a court ruling, as the BBC news agency reported.

Earlier, a court in Brazil demanded to block these accounts, and if social networks refused to do so, threatened them with daily fines of about $ 3,800. The head of the presidential party, Roberto Jefferson, and famous Brazilian businessman Luciano Hang are mong them.

Facebook initially refused to comply with the court's decision, citing threats to the freedom of speech.

After that, the Brazilian Supreme Court fined Facebook 1.92 million reais (about $ 368,000) for refusing to block these pages around the world. Now access to them is closed only in Brazil.

As we reported before, Jair Bolsonaro, the president of Brazil got infected with the coronavirus.
