Volodymyr Balukh, the former political prisoner in Russia suffered a beating by the unknown attackers. He is now at a hospital, receiving treatment. Oleg Sentsov, another ex-political prisoner, reported that on September 8.
"Volodymyr Balukh was beaten up last night. They found him just this morning. He is currently at a hospital. His condition is tough. Details are being figured out. Volodya is conscious, with his arm and collarbone broken. His life is beyond danger", reads the message.
The police haven't commented on Balukh's beating yet.
Ukrainian citizen Volodymyr Balukh was detained in the Russia-annexed Crimea in December 2016. Russian FSB operatives claimed that they found ammunition and TNT pellets in his house. Balukh claimed he was framed. The Ukrainian activist who hoisted the Ukrainian flag in the already occupied Crimea ended up in Russia, where they judged and sentenced him to a prison term.
The Ukrainian spent more than two years in Russia under trumped-up charges, before eventually returning to Ukraine last September.
