Ex-MP Semenchenko released from detention under house arrest

Former lawmaker Semen Semenchenko, a suspect in the creation of private military company has been released from custody and placed under house arrest. He wrote that himself on his Facebook.

On March 24, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed and stopped the activities of the so-called private military company - a paramilitary armed formation not provided by law. Former MP of Ukraine Semen Semenchenko and National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) "agent" Yevhen Shevchenko are suspected of organizing private military company.

On March 26, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv has chosen a measure of restraint for the former MP Semen Semenchenko. The court sent Semenchenko to a pre-trial detention center for 2 months without the right to post bail. Later it was reported that Semenchenko stays in the hospital.

On April 3, Semenchenko was transferred from the hospital to the remand center.

On May 14, the SBU has solved the terrorist act, particularly, the shooting at 112 Ukraine TV channel building committed in July 2019. The pretrial investigation established that the shooting at the building of the TV channel was organized by Semen Semenchenko.
