Ex-leader of non-recognized "DNR" (Donetsk People's Republic) Aleksandr Borodai is running for a seat in the Russian Parliament. The former commander of pro-Kremlin militants in Donbas seeks to join the State Duma as a member of the pro-presidential United Russia party.
Denys Kazansky, the Ukrainian journalist and representative of the delegation in the Minsk talks group wrote this on his Twitter account.
"Civil war" in Ukraine is when first "DNR leader", Russian citizen Aleksandr Borodai runs for the Russian State Duma from the ruling party "United Russia". Of course, it proves that Russia is not a party to the conflict, and Kremlin plays no part in this war", he wrote sarcastically.
Aleksandr Borodai was born in Moscow in 1972. He graduated from the philosophy department of Russia's State University. He chaired the "DNR" in 2014, as Russian militants invaded eastern Ukraine and captured the pivotal infrastructure objects, de facto grabbing power in the region.
