Counterintelligence of Ukraine's State Security Service (SBU) conducted a special operation, which resulted in the detention of former "minister of the coal industry" of the so-called "Donetsk People's Republic." The press office of the SBU reported that on Wednesday.
Operatives and investigators of the agency found out that the individual was actively involved in shaping the domestic policy of his ministry. He supervised the work of coal extraction enterprises and the distribution of energy resources in the temporarily occupied areas of the Donetsk region.
Eventually, the man was fired from his office in the occupied part of the Donetsk region. He started his own business, tried to distance himself from the work for the government, and decided to return to Ukraine-controlled territory. He returned to the peaceful territories of Ukraine thanks to the special operation developed and conducted by the SBU.
Immediately after the withdrawal from the so-called "DNR", he filed an official statement, in which he said he was involved in the work "authoritative bodies" that were illegally shaped by the occupants in the Donetsk region. He also revealed certain facts of Russia's direct involvement in the occupation of Donbas.
Currently, the State Security Service checks if the defendant was involved in any crimes while serving with the occupant authorities.
