Romanian law enforcers took in Mykhailo Labutin, the former director general of Ukrspyrt, the state-run enterprise. He is charged with looting and embezzlement of property by the power abuse. Yevhen Yenin, the deputy prosecutor general said that at a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday.
‘He is detained. The convict planned an attempt upon someone’s life – can’t tell you who exactly,’ he said.
Yenin added that Prosecutor General’s Office sent the request to Romania, asking for his extradition to Ukraine. The procedure will take some time.
Mykhailo Labutin, the former CEO of Ukrspyrt, is charged with embezzling more than three million U.S. dollars in late 2014. He went missing and was dismissed from the CEO’s office. Later, he was put on the wanted list of the Interpol.
