The European Parliament noted that Ukraine had not taken any visible measures in the context of its de-oligarchisation. According to the institution, the oligarchs still have a strong influence on the Ukrainian economy and politics. This is stated in the resolution on the implementation by Ukraine of the Association Agreement that was approved by the European Parliament during a plenary session.

"No visible effects have been achieved in the de-oligarchisation of the country, as oligarchs still have a strong impact on the Ukrainian economy and politics, in particular in media ownership and influence over the judiciary and the law enforcement system," the document said.

The European Parliament urged the Ukrainian authorities to continue the privatization of state-owned enterprises in order to modernize and enhance the functioning of the country's economy, as well as to prevent its oligarchization.

As we reported earlier, yesterday, on February 10, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal and Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis began consultations on further trade liberalization between Ukraine and the EU.
