Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis presented a report on the EU Association Agreement with Ukraine at the plenary session of the European Parliament. The text of the European Commissioner's speech is published on the European Commission's website.
"Ukraine remains high on the European agenda. We continue to provide political, financial, and technical assistance as support for its reform agenda to build a more resilient economy. We stepped up support especially during this crisis, where the EU is showing solidarity with Ukraine during the pandemic," Dombrovskis said.
He noted that Ukraine had carried out many important reforms in recent years. Nevertheless, according to the official, the level of corruption in the country remains high.
"Despite notable progress, widespread corruption continues to hamper Ukraine’s reform process," he noted.
As we reported earlier, according to Chrystia Freeland, Canada's Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister, her country is interested in expanding the Free Trade Agreement with Ukraine and expresses readiness to work in this direction.
