The European Commission works on the package of measures on counteraction disinformation in the EU, which comes from the outside as Interfax-Ukraine reported citing European Commissioner for Security Julian King.
“It is the code, which will have anything to do with the censorship, anything to do with the creation of “justice ministry”. The issue is not to indicate what kind of figures of the political opposition are good and who are bad. The issue is to highlight the political debates, provide the transparent systems,” King stated.
In October, the European Commission will assume the number of measures, which will make the “code of conduct” of the EU in counteraction the disinformation.
According to the reporter, the legislative acts on the political advertising and rules of the financing of the political parties will be considered at the European Parliament.
The MPs of the parliamentarian majority were united in the opinion that the main source of the disinformation and interference in the European democratic process is Russia, China, Iran, “other authoritarian regimes” and even “reactionary forces of the U.S.”.
The MEPs plan to vote for the resolution on the counteraction the disinformation at October session. The EU states intend to enhance the cooperation in the respond to the disinformation and cyber attacks.
The necessity of the new information rules is tied with the fact, according to King, that the volume of the disinformation from pro-Kremlin sources increased twice in comparison with 2018.
Earlier we reported that Russian internet trolls seem to be shifting strategy to disrupt the 2020 U.S. elections, promoting politically divisive messages through phony social media accounts instead of creating propaganda themselves.
