EU, USA work on new anti-Russian sanctions

Brussels and Washington are working on more sanctions against Moscow - as the response to the Russian naval attack and the following capture of Ukrainian sailors in the Kerch Strait in November 2018. Sky News TV channel reported that referring to its sources.

'Britain and a number of other EU allies are pushing for new "restrictive measures" to be announced by the European Union in the coming weeks', reads the article on the outlet's website.

It is expected that the foreign ministers from 28 EU member countries would discuss the prospects of further sanctions within wider debates on the situation in Ukraine at the Council of Foreign Affairs in Brussels on Monday.

According to the European sources of the TV channel, the EU and the U.S. coordinate their actions aiming to increase pressure on Russian leader Putin's regime.

Previously, Kurt Volker, U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine's Affairs stated that the West considers new sanctions against Russia due to the aggression in the area of the Kerch Strait.
