Countries of the European Union and the US support the position of Ukraine against the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and preservation of the role of Ukraine in the gas transit. Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine claimed this as ICTV reported.
“There was an absolutely clear position of the majority of the European countries and the president of the EU and US toward the support of the interests of Ukraine,” Poroshenko said.
He reminded that the Stockholm Arbitration Court satisfied the demands of the “Naftogaz” in the lawsuit to “Gazprom” and got a $4,63 billion compensation for the transit gas that had been agreed on but not delivered by Gazprom.
“It is possible to defend against Russia only by the united and effective actions of the world. According to my deep conviction, there is no alternative,” Poroshenko added.
As we reported Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed during the meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Helsinki that the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will not influence the transit role of Ukraine.
Reportedly, leaders of the USA and Russia met at the presidential palace in Helsinki on July 16. Putin claimed that he had regularly had conversations with Trump over the last months via a telephone and at the international events; however, it is time to clearly talk about the bilateral relations and the main problems in the world.
Trump claimed that together with the Russian leader they were going to discuss trade, commerce and military issues related to nuclear capabilities. ‘Our countries have a chance to significantly better the relations,’ he said.
