High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini urged Russia to recognize its responsibility for the catastrophe of the MH17 plane in Donbas in July 2014 as the EU press service reported.
“The EU fully supports United Nations Security Council Resolution 2166, which demands that those responsible for the downing of flight MH17 on 17 July 2014 be held to account and that all States cooperate fully with efforts to establish accountability,” the message said.
Mogherini reminded that the Netherlands and Australia officially accused Russia of the downing of the MH17 plane. Particularly, when the Dutch prosecutors found the evidence that the plane was downed from the Russian “Buk”.
“Against this background, we will continue to call on the Russian Federation to accept its responsibility and to fully cooperate with all efforts to establish accountability,” the message said.
As we reported an action in the memory of victims of the MH17 tragedy took place in Kyiv near the Embassy of the Netherlands on July 17. The organizers of the event noted that it should not be perceived as the action or some protest, it is just a commemoration of the deceased.
