The EU plans to approve the new sanctions against Belarus in the middle of November. Brussels-based correspondent of Polskie Radio Beata Plometska reported that upon examining the respective document.

Brussels means to punish Minsk, which uses illegal migrants for the de-stabilization of the European community.

EU foreign ministers and leaders of the member countries have already given their consent.

The restrictions will concern individuals and Belavia company, involved in the illegal transportation of migrants from Africa and the Middle East. The Belarusian state-run air carrier will face the ban on landing in European airports, and flights over the EU member countries.

"We now observe a hybrid attack from Belarus in Latvia, in the Baltic states. It's merciless and relentless. Belarus brings people from third countries onto their territory, and these people are urged and pushed across the border into Europe. It's unacceptable behavior. As democracies, we must protect our borders", Karinš said.

The two-day EU summit opened in Brussels on Thursday, October 21. During Day 1, the participants discussed the matter of rapid increase of prices of energy carriers, specifically the natural gas. On Day 2, the parties are supposed to focus on migration policy and digital technologies.
