The European Union has begun work on the fourth sanctions package against the regime of the self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko. Radio Liberty correspondent Rikard Joswiak wrote about this on Twitter.

“Work on the fourth EU sanctions package on Belarus has slowly started. I predict that they will focus more on targeting police/security officials rather than going after "the money" behind the regime but it is still early days,” Joswiak wrote.

Earlier, 84 individuals and seven legal entities responsible for repression and falsification of elections in Belarus have already been included in the EU sanctions list.

In particular, the third package of sanctions was approved on December 17 last year.
