The European Union made a decision to prolong the sanctions against Russia. This is due to the zero progress in implementation of Minsk agreements. Donald Tusk, the leader of the European Council posted this on Twitter.

According to RFE/RL reporter Rikard Jozwiak, the restrictions will be active for another six months.

'The EU leaders have decided to prolong the economic sanctions against Russia by another six months. Formal roll-over next week', he wrote.

On December 12, the European Parliament passed the document, which foresaw the increase of sanctions pressure on Russia unless the Ukrainian sailors are released.
