EU, Russia to discuss fight against terrorism in Brussels

The EU and Russia will discuss the issues concerning the fight against terrorism and efforts on the prevention of the radicalization and violent extremism during the informal meeting in Brussels as the European External Action Service (EEAS) reported.

The meeting will be co-chaired by Pedro Serrano, the European External Action Service Deputy Secretary General and Oleg Syromolotov, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister for Counter-terrorism.

The parties will discuss the assessment of global terrorist threats, the threat posed by foreign terrorist fighters and the spread of terrorist ideology and cooperation within the international forums.

As we reported Ukraine took the 17th place in the world rating on the terrorism published by the London Institute of Economics and Peace on November 15.

According to the rating, 46 incidents considered as the terrorist attacks took place in Ukraine in 2017. 11 people died and 11 suffered in the result of them.

According to the SBU, it prevented dozens of the terrorist attacks since the beginning of the Russian aggression. The SBU investigates more than 15 000 criminal proceedings against the crimes against the national security and defense, territorial integrity and terrorism. 22 terrorist attacks were prevented during 2016-2017. 114 members of the sabotage groups were detained.
