The European Union recalled that the task of the Minsk agreements is to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as the implementation of the sanctions policy against the Russian Federation. This became known from the statement of the Union at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, Ukrinform reports.

"The Minsk agreements remain the only basis for a peaceful settlement, ensuring observance of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders," the statement says.

The European Union noted that "as a signatory of the Minsk agreements" Russia assumed responsibility for a stable political settlement of the conflict and the implementation of these agreements.

The EU also recalled linking economic sanctions against Russia to the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.

Against this backdrop, the EU called on Russia to use its great influence over the armed formations it supports to fulfill the Minsk commitments in full.

Earlier it was reported that Russia is ready for Ukraine to abandon the Minsk agreements, but warns that such a step will not be agreed by Berlin, Paris or Moscow.

On June 11, Russia's Boris Gryzlov accused Ukraine of allegedly withdrawing from the Minsk process at the negotiations on Donbas.

At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba stated the critical state of the Minsk process to resolve the situation in Donbas.
