EU policy will not change with the coming to power of Donald Trump in the USA. The Supreme EU representative for Foreign Affairs and security policy Federica Mogherini said in an interview with Deutsche Welle.
"Our policy on Ukraine will not change, and it is determined not in Washington," she said. According to her, this applies both to politics in Ukraine in general and the Russian occupation of Crimea.
At the same time, Mogherini noted that the EU cooperates with Russia on many issues. In particular, she recalled the conclusion of a nuclear deal with Iran that it made with Russia's participation. In addition, according to the head of European diplomacy, the EU cooperates with Russia on Syria, despite differences in their positions.
At the same time, Mogherini expressed concern that the priorities of the new US administration can lead America away from some of the European basic principles. In this regard, she expressed hope that Trump will split the fundamental European values, which, according to her, the EU clearly outlined. "We are happy to work with US on the basis of these values. But you need to give them (future administration in Washington) a little bit of time, so they can determine the priorities of its foreign policy," she added.
