EU leaders continue to congratulate Ukraine on Independence Day

Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Croatia, Cyprus and Finland sent their congratulations

Ukraine and President Petro Poroshenko continue to receive congratulations on the 27th anniversary of Independence. This was reported by the presidential press service.

So, congratulations came from the leaders of Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Croatia, Cyprus and Finland.

The President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite in her congratulations stressed that in recent years Ukrainian people demonstrated how they value freedom and are ready to fight for it and wished the country prosperity, peace and unity.

"With such strong and free spirit of citizens, your country is and will remain free. In Lithuania we remember well the worthy struggle of our friends for freedom and unity. I sincerely wish you to cherish this and keep your resolve on a difficult but very necessary path of reform. The Lithuanian people remain your faithful friends and assistants in the development of Ukraine as a successful, independent, European and democratic state on the continent, "she said.

President of Romania Klaus Werner Johannis also wished Ukraine peace and prosperity, and expressed his support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and European ambitions of the country.

Rumen Radev, the leader of Bulgaria, in his congratulations, stressed that Bulgaria will also continue to support Ukraine's European choice and assist in the implementation of reforms.

President of Hungary Janos Ader stressed that his country "consistently supports the citizens of Ukraine in all the efforts that they are making to protect the territorial unity and sovereignty of the country. He stressed that the interest of Hungary is a neighbor in the face of a strong and democratic Ukraine.

The President of Croatia, Colinda Grabar-Kitarovich, wished the Ukrainian people security and stability.

"Croatia sees and appreciates Ukraine's significant progress despite numerous challenges, and is ready to share its experience in implementing complex reforms on the European and Euro-Atlantic ways," the message says.

President of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis also expressed support for the European aspirations of Ukraine.

"I want to reiterate my government's consistent and principled position on Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence, as well as full support for your government's efforts in implementing important reforms that will make your country even closer to your European aspirations," he said.

The President of Finland Sauli Niinistö wished Ukraine and Ukrainian people a peaceful and prosperous future.

"Finland continues to condemn the violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. With the international community, we continue the policy of not recognizing the illegal annexation of Crimea. Our support for Ukraine's political association and economic integration in the EU is firm," reads his message.

Earlier, the President of Turkey Recep Erdogan also congratulated the Ukrainians on their Independence Day. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, who spoke about expanding cooperation in all spheres, expressed his support in overcoming political, economic and social challenges.

President of the United States Donald Trump also sent a congratulatory message to President Petro Poroshenko, noting that the United States will always support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Before that, French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Poroshenko and the citizens of Ukraine on Independence Day. He noted that France remains close to Ukraine in search of a sustainable solution to the conflict in Donbass.

Pope Francis Francis wished Ukrainians blessings, especially to citizens in the east of Ukraine.

In addition, the congratulations were joined by the heads of European countries. In particular, the King of the Netherlands Willem-Alexander, the King of Sweden Carl Gustav XVI, the King of Belgium Philippe, as well as the Governor-General of Australia Peter Cosgrove, the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović, the Regent Captains of San Marino Stefano Palmiero and Matteo Chachi.

Later, Chinese leader Xi Jinping congratulated Ukraine on Independence Day and rejoiced at its success.
