EU member countries' leaders arrive in the Belgian capital to elect the new head of European Commission. Deutsche Welle reported that on June 30.
Leading officials of the EU member states will hold consultations. Head of the European Council Donald Tusk plans to negotiate with European Parliament group leaders.
Previously, Germany's Manfred Weber (EPP) and Dutch Frans Timmermans from the Socialist Party were considered the key candidates for the office of Jean-Claude Juncker who will step down by the end of the year. However, Weber did not collect enough votes at the European Parliament hearing. Besides, Danish liberal circles promoted Margrete Vestager for this office. France and Spain promoted their candidates, too.
