Top EU officials agreed that the sanctions against Russia are going to be extended until the middle of 2017. An unnamed diplomatic source close to the EU leaders told this Reuters.

‘The key economic sanctions against Russia are to be extended for another six months, due to the disorders in Ukraine,’ the outlet reports.

According to EU diplomats, the decision was quite expected, and the formal procedures to prolong the sanctions against Russia’s defense, energy and financial sector will take place next week.

Earlier today, Radio Liberty's correspondent Rikard Jozwiak reported that sanctions against Russia will be prolonged after today's EU summit.
