Head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine Hugh Mingarelli predicts that Ukraine's visa-free regime with the European Union will enter into force before the end of June. He said this in an interview with Unian agency.
Thus, the diplomat answered the question whether objections would be raised regarding granting Ukraine a visa-free regime in view of the presidential elections in France, the first round of which will be held on April 23.
"I hope not. In principle, the decision was taken in Brussels, and now everything is being done in accordance with the plan. The visa-free regime should enter into force before the end of June, "Mingarelli said.
The ambassador also informed about the requirements that Ukrainians with biometric passports should observe when crossing the border of the Schengen countries after introduction of a visa-free regime with the European Union.
"They will be treated like any third-country nationals (non-EU), so if the border control officers have some doubts, they can ask a few questions about the places of residence, whether visitors have enough funds with them, and if they can not prove this, as in the case of any citizen from third countries, they can be refused of entry, but be considered as citizens from any third country that has a visa-free regime with the EU, "Mingarelli said.
