According to Turkish President Recep Erdogan, Russia should reconsider its position on the Bashar Assad regime in Syria and act in this Arab country jointly with the United States, reports Anadolu.

Moscow should join the US position on Syria after the use of chemical weapons by the Assad army in the province of Idlib on April 4.

"We hope that this will not be limited to the actions of the US We hope that Russia will also join or at least stop defending Assad," Erdogan said.

The President of Turkey also added that he welcomes the Kremlin's recent statements, which spoke about the impossibility of unconditional support of Bashar Assad.

"But let's speed it up. Let's get rid of this evil," the Turkish president said.
